Cruisin’ in Neutral

Gypsy Wife is done! I’m so excited it is completed and on the wall…

It looks like it’s hanging a bit wonky on the wall, but it’s not IRL. This was my One Monthly Goal for August, and one of my 3rd Quarter goals for the 2017 Finish-A-Long. I’m really pleased with it and I’m glad it’s completed. As for the name…it’s sort of a family “thing” and it kept popping into my head while working on the binding of this quilt. When I was growing up we had a cat who was a bit laid back and we always said he was “Cruisin’ in neutral.” We loved that guy to pieces, so it wasn’t a disparaging comment…just true! So, in honor of our lovely cat Zachary, this quilt is Gypsy Wife – Cruisin’ in Neutral. Yay, a finish!

I’ve just been working on bits of this and that around the house recently. I did complete the first two blocks of the I Wish You a Merry QAL

I’m using my blue, white, and grey/silver fabrics for this one. We’ll see how they all work out in the end. I may use the snowflake pattern to make a winter table runner for us.

I spent some time Wednesday and Thursday with the Halloween Wonky 9-Patch quilt top. It’s coming along. I hope to finish the top in the next week or two. Here’s where it stands…

I have also been canning tomatoes…and canning more tomatoes, and more tomatoes! I probably have a couple of more weeks before they are all spent on the plants. But so far, I have 20 pints to use this winter in soups and chilis, and I’m so excited about that!

I’ve also been working on some genealogy. Maybe one day I will have it completely organized!

This weekend should be lovely here, so we have some outdoor work planned, and I’m sure I will get to some crochet and stitching this weekend, and on Sunday afternoon we have our guild charity quilts Sit & Sew. The home sewing projects will have to wait until Monday.

Have a wonderful weekend, and I will be linking up with Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict, and at Elm Street Quilt for the August Finishes of One Monthly Goal. Head over for some great projects.
