The First Full Week of December

It appears winter will finally settle in here in the Tennessee Valley. Brrr. This week is starting out wet and cold, and by the end of the week we are looking at snow flurries (about a month late!) This coming weekend should be dry and very cold. Perfect weather to hang out inside and sew…and consider hibernation for the winter.

This week’s agenda looks pretty much the same as my monthly goals. I need to continue working on the last Christmas gift I need to make…

Today I hope to get some of the appliqué pieces cut out and ready to press onto these background pieces. It would be great to get that done in the next couple of days.

This week I also would like to complete the block for the outgoing president of our quilt guild. I have the fabrics and an idea, so once I sit down to work on it I should be able to stitch it up quickly. I hope to get this block done by next Tuesday when I can give it to the president at Bee.

The remainder of my time (aside from the “normal” stuff I do around here) will be spent continuing the re-organizing and clearing out of my sewing room. I have my fabric and books (and a few other things) set up on my shelf units…

I still have about 3 boxes of “stuff” to go through, along with a couple of stacking bins. I’m also hoping to go through my stacks of collected patterns and magazines. Then I have the computer desk to clean up…which is a whole other project! I’m also going through all of my daughter’s beads that she left here when she went off to college way back when. She doesn’t want them anymore, so I am going through those and putting them into storage containers that are more manageable for me. I really didn’t like the containers she had them in; they just didn’t work for me. I have a bit more to go, then I will need to find a place for them in my sewing room.

I do have a couple of crochet projects I’m working on right now, so I can work on those in the evenings, along with my current embroidery project. But those won’t be my priorities for this week.

For now, I will be linking up at Love Laugh Quilt for Monday Making and at Cooking Up Quilts for Main Crush Monday. I hope you all have a wonderful (and warm) week ahead!

  1. Your stash shelving units hold an enviable rainbow of fabrics!

  2. A great way to end the year by getting your sewing room in order. Sounds like you've about got everything under control.
